This old column about John Peel, his Festive 50 poll, and his frustration with his own listeners seems relevant to the Pitchfork list. I think it’s inevitable that any widely read zine focusing on new music will have an uneasy relationship with its readers’ tastes.
Honestly, the reaction to the Pitchfork list is ticking me off more than the list itself.
